Gaze, Ramos and the Pirates

ESPN (shocker, I know) put out a really nice 3 part video series on the 1989 Seton Hall team. It's worth watching for a cbb fan, especially if you're not familiar with that team's story. Same title as this thread, total run time is just under half an hour.

I'll definitely check it out.
The 1989 Seton Hall team was one of my favorite Big East teams of all time.

In the Elite-8 game they blew out UNLV, who had Greg Anthony and Stacey Augmon, just running them off the floor. I think UNLV had a center who would grab a rebound and yell at the top of his lungs (looked it up, maybe Moses Scurry?).

In the Final Four vs Duke, they fell behind early by double-digits i think (and Duke of course was strutting around), then went on a freakin tear, outscoring Duke like 70 to 40 over the last 25-30 minutes, just crushed them into tears. Got to see Coach K's sourpuss face as they got hammered.

Those were two of the most satisfying wins. Outstanding team, bruisers who could run, shoot, Carlesimo was great with the eyebrow raising. The Michigan game was under control but Rice wouldn't miss and the ridiculous foul, and then Rumeal Robinson with a 52% FT percentage hit both shots.

Yup, it was 30 years ago today that Seton Hall came back from down 26-8 to beat Duke 95-78 in the Final Four. Kevin Willard is by far our most successful coach since PJ Carlesimo (first since PJ to get 4 straight NCAA appearances), he's just lacking that deep tournament run that would really get him on the same level in SHU history.

I loved that Pirate team, easily one of my favorite non Friar teams ever.
