And don't forget where our fan bases are located - cities. New York City has about zero interest in college football. I won't speak for the other cities but I think we will do fine. Also, leagues with football will probably not be playing hoops on that day so as not to compete with football. We might be the only hoops show going on. Going to be a great day.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why they wouldn't want Temple to be in there. The AAC only has the four brand name schools in basketball, seems like they aren't using them properly. Either way, we have much better matchups and overall brand recognition (I think) for our kickoff event.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

While all 3 games have marquee teams, those are terrible matchups. All have the potential to be blow outs. Even those who prefer to watch those games, may find themselves quickly tuning out and looking for something else to watch.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Seems to me they could have opened with some throw-away game (USF-UCF to try and create a local rivalry maybe?) and then matching Memphis-UConn second, with the marquee matchup of Memphis-Louisville to cap the night. Then again, I guess the people paid to set up the schedules are privy to information I'm not. We should, however, blow the current matchups out of the water.

I would have loved to see SHU vs SJU on that day at the Garden, that would have been sweet! However, you are right, Manhattan will be a little busy that day! Of all of our conference mates, I am especially looking forward to the home and home with St. John's. Return to the good old days!

Interesting column on WCC scheduling and how ESPN has affected their schedules, wonder if the same might happen with FS1:

"For ESPN Networks, their radars are heightened by new competition from other networks and so their need to have the "best games” has never been greater."

Is Fox Sports 1 going to carry Big East basketball non-conference games too?

If they want to, they can broadcast all of the Big East home games as FS1 has the rights to those.

As an example, Xavier was scheduled to play Tennessee as part of ESPN's Hoops basketball marathon the afternoon of 11/18. Since it was a home game for Xavier, FSI said I don't think so, and will be broadcasting the game in prime time.

Creighton has a couple home games against Cal and Nebraska that I bet FS1 will broadcast.
