It would be interesting to see what the lowest attended game at each site was. That will show you the real fans who went to the area during a snowstorm to watch a buy game.

DePaul has been drastically inflating their home attendance figures. Actual figures are closer to 3k per game. The reason for the inflation is because the stadium was approved on the expectation that the stadium would be averaging 9,500 people per home game. Whoops.

9,500 people per game?????

I don't understand how estimates like that can actually be accepted when there are millions of dollars on the line. All they had to do was ask a single season ticket holder if that was realistic and they would've gotten the answer "Hell No!"

It gets worse... there were only four games last year where the arena was more than half full. One of those games was the first game against Notre Dame, but even that game still had over a 1,000 empty seats. For seven of the home games last year, there were under 2k fans in the stands. Again, the approval of this project was secured because certain leaders promised 9,500 per game. As awful as that sounds, it's even worse that the same leadership has been saying that attendance is "significantly better" than at Allstate Arena. It has not improved at all.

Which is really sad when you consider that Wintrust should have had a "New Shiny Thing" bump. I never understood this deal.

Marquette actually averaged 13,845 (74% capacity) for the regular season. Three NIT games were played on campus at the Al McGuire Center (3,700)

I was going to post this exact same thing.

Also, Marquette's (non-NIT) low water mark this season was against Eastern Illinois at 11,647.

Villanova's % capacity is also weird. For some reason they used the Wells Fargo Center (capacity 21,600) where they play a small minority of games instead of the Pavilion (capacity 6,500).
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

The Pavilion wasn't used last season with the ongoing renovations. But the figure probably didn't account for the game we played at Nevin.
