SJU ------ 79-85 -- 32-58 -- 2-5 -- 0-1

KenPom:

Villanova = 1-2-1-5-11 (Avg. = 4.0)
Xavier = 15-31-14-21-52 (26.6)
Butler = 20-25-30-20-99 (38.8)
Creighton = 30-28-40-79-17 (38.8)
Providence = 63-60-44-27-48 (48.4)
Seton Hall = 26-51-29-83-94 (58.6)
Georgetown = 94-69-62-22-57 (60.8)
Marquette = 53-32-97-93-68 (68.6)
St. John's = 74-99-211-50-54 (97.6)
DePaul = 99-183-183-150-183 (159.6)

24/7 Conf Recruiting Class Rankings (2014-18):

1. PC. 4 - 5 - 4 - 2 - 2 = 17
2. Nova. 5 - 4 - 7 - 4 - 1 = 21
3. G'twn. 1 - 3 - 10 - 6 - 3 = 23
4t. X. 2 - 10 - 3 - 1 - 8 = 24
4t. CU. 6 - 6 - 5 - 3 - 4 = 24
6. Marq. 9 - 1 - 1 - 7 - 10 = 28
7. SJU. 10 - 2 - 2 - 9 - 6 = 29
8. SHU. 3 - 8 - 8 - 5 - 7 = 31
9t. BU. 7 - 9 - 6 - 8 - 9 = 39
9t. Dep. 8 - 7 - 9 - 10 - 5 = 39

- This does not take into account transfers which teams like X, SJU and CU have seemed to do very well with.

Observations:
+ The 4 year stretch by VU is historic in the BE; I think only the 82-85 Hoyas can compare in terms of a 4 year stretch of excellence within all of college hoops
+ X has been the clear #2 since inception, and solidified that last year with the BE champ banner
+ The Butler Way; often doubted but they simply deliver
+ PC is poised for a breakthrough. Cooley continues to gather talent, but needs to make a statement in March sooner than later
+ Still waiting on G'town and Marq. to return to consistent prominence and for SJU and DePaul to awaken from their multi-decade slumbers . If that happened, this league would be ridiculous.
+ 57 NCAA games played in the first 5 years --11.4 per year for the entire conference. Not bad.

+5 years in we've got (2) NC's, (2) NPOY's a NCOY and have been consistently in the top 5 for conference RPI.

Nice post, though some of the numbers are a bit off. For example, SJU's BET result should be 2-5 rather than 1-4.

We technically have 2 NCOY's. Jay Wright won the Naismith in 2016, but Chris Mack won USBWA, Basketball Times, and CBS Sports NCOY awards that year as well.

15 - 3 over 5 years, but with 2 of those years involving 6-6 efforts.

Nuff said (written).

Three of the Top 5 are newcomers to the league. Wise additions by the University Presidents it appears.

"The 3 New Blue" came through. I remember a lot of.. "They'll need to adjust to stiffer competition" talk. Have to give props to Prov. and SH. they carried their share. Of course, Super Nova! made it a better 5 years, then I imagined! I can't wait for the next 5!!

In all fairness of the 10 more BE losses we have than wins all but 1 are from 14-15. Not saying we've been good but 9-9, 8-10, 10-8, 9-9 is much more average than bad like our record would indicate.

All the same the next two years you will all see the MU that was expected

SHU still having an under .500 overall league record shows just how bad they were those first 2 years. There's a clear time split in their performance.

First 2 years: 12-24
Since: 32-22
Seton Hall Pirates
Big East Tournament Champions: 1991, 1993, 2016
Big East Regular Season Champions: 1992, 1993, 2020
