I believe it is. Or am I mistaken?

That's odd cause Comcast is the only major company to have a deal with FS1. Are u sure they didn't move the channel?

And just like that it is back on the same channel. Must have been a temporary thing I guess.

7 distributors as of today have deals to show Fox Sports 1.

Here is a nice (& long) read about why ESPN should take Fox seriously.

ESPN realizes that Murdoch isn't messing around and all indications are that they are worried. Fox knows how to get people to watch - look at Fox News starting from nowhere and eclipsing CNN. I think the Big East being on board early is the best place to be.

Which, as of today, gives FOX Sports 1 about 2/3 the distribution of NBC Sports Network and 1/3 that of ESPN. But lots of time for that to get worked out before the tipoff of basketball season.

How long before cable TV goes ala carte?

The issue with cable going to ala carte is this:

I will use Omaha for an example...If ESPN is getting $5 per month per sub and there are 200,000 homes in the Omaha area for Cox Communications that means that ESPN is getting $1,000,000 per month for just ESPN out of Omaha.

Now, if you want to offer this channel (you could use any channel for this scenario) ala carte and only say 50,000 households order ESPN, do you think ESPN is going charge only $5 per sub and bring in $250,000 instead of $1M? We all know the answer to this. So for those who want ESPN they'll now have to make up the difference and pay $20 per month just for ESPN. Now if your wife wants this network and your kids want that network pretty soon that gets to be a pretty hefty bill for just say 20 or so channels.

Also, add in the fact that Disney wants ALL of their ESPN channels (and all of the other channels they own) to be carried- they want them bundled together. They will never allow you to order JUST ESPN and ESPN2...nope. You'll need to purchase ESPNU, ESPN News, ESPN Classic and whatever other networks they may own.

Cable companies should offer ESPN channels in their own tier then. My grandmother wouldn't pay the higher fees but plenty of people would be glad to.
