This needs its own thread.

The Friars have been strong with local Providence star David Duke. Grew up going to the Dunk, and is a huge Friars fan. He visited Virginia Tech over the weekend and it made a great impression on him. This weekend he's having an official visit at PC. One of the top guards in the country, and he grew up minutes from the PC campus. He's a perfect fit, and would be a huge get.

Certainly hoping for a PC win on this one, especially after he trimmed Nova off his list. But just curious... How much does having MAL already in tow affect Duke? I thought that was going to give Nova something to put in his ear. He goes to PC and he has to share the rock with MAL. At VT and Nova it seems as though he would be handed the keys to drive the bus as much as he'd like. For these kids who aspire to make it to the big show I would think that they'd want to go where they are assured to be the lead dog as much as possible. No doubt Cooley put in the time and work but I'm curious as to how he sold that one.

What's the word in Friarville (or is it Friartown)?

It is friartown and hoping that it will be the Duke of Providence before the weekend is over. David grew up a PC fan and lived near the campus. I believe this Friday is his birthday and Saturday is Late Night Madness at PC so we are all hoping he pulls the trigger and stays home but who really knows what goes on in the mind of a eighteen year old. Duke is an incredibly athletic combo guard while MAL is a lightning quick point guard. Cooley in the past has had no issues with playing two or three guards at a time. Ed and the staff has had a history of developing guards and I'm sure he has let that be known to David and his family. In Ed we trust.

From what I've heard, it would be a major shock if he went anywhere besides PC.

Having 3 Top 50 guards commit to your program within a year would be quite the haul for Big Ed.

Good luck Providence! He would be a great get. I will be a little jealous if you get him though.
