Jared Ridder has just committed to Xavier.

He's an elite shooter and has great size (6'7). He's supposed to be a decent rebounder (probably will be better after entering a college-level strength and conditioning regimen) and a reasonable ball-handler, but at this point, his game isn't exactly versatile. However, the shooting ability on the wing (or more likely, at the 4 in a small-ball lineup) will be huge for Xavier. They really needed to get a great shooter in what is going to be a really big 2017 class. They will definitely be going for at least one more wing player and don't be surprised if they still pick up two more guys on the wing to complement his shooting.

The 2017 class is important for Xavier because they just need a lot of bodies. I expect it to finish up as a pretty highly ranked class if for no other reason than Xavier will be bringing in 5 or even 6 guys. They are in on plenty of top 100 guys so I am confident Mack will pick up at least a couple of them, and Ridder seems to be a great complement for the other targets. Ridder's primary skill seems to be shooting the ball, with everything else probably at an average level or below for a high major recruit. If he can develop any other high level skills he could be a really good player for us, but his shooting should always be able to get him some run throughout his career.
