Maurice Watson - Boston U transfer (Creighton interest)

Postby Omaha1 » Wed Apr 02, 2014 4:46 pm

Was recruited by now CU-asst Patrick Sellers when he was at Hoftsra. Jays graduate both Austin Chatman and Devin Brooks - the only 2 PGs on the roster next season.

Boston University guard Maurice Watson Jr. has decided to transfer from the program, CoBL has confirmed.

“We appreciate our time at BU,” his father, Maurice Watson, Sr., told CoBL. “He had a wonderful career playing in the Patriot League, playing in the America East. But we feel now that he needs to take his basketball ability and play on a bigger stage.

Marquette mentioned specifically by his dad as the type of school that would interest him.

I think we are a little overloaded at the PG position right now (1 senior PG, 1 Soph, 1 Fr RS, one likely incoming since Cohen has indicated he will still be coming to MU). I guess PG is a position that you can never have too much of. Good luck to all Big East schools involved.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

As an aside, if Marquette is the "type" of school that would interest him, then Creighton should fit that mold as well.

First time I've seen Xavier's name on him but I think we have at least inquired about all the PG's available. I think we have a better shot at getting Ronnie Johnson or Roddy Peters though if I had to guess. Hopefully Creighton can just lock him up this weekend

Would be a perfect fit if we can get him. Was #92 in class on 2012.

Committed to Creighton. Answers our PG issues in 2015 after Chatman and Brooks are gone.

Great pickup. I was (and still am to an extent) concerned with how Creighton would recruit after joining the Big East. So far they have done a really good job, in my opinion.
