Big East 2014 McDonald's AA Nominees

Postby TheHall » Tue Jan 07, 2014 7:45 pm

McDonald's today announced its list of 984 high school basketball seniors who have been nominated to play in the 2014 McDonald's All American Games. This year's list has players from 44 states and the District of Columbia who have been selected by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald's All American Games Selection Committee.

Here's the BE list (don't think I missed any) Btw why are there 72 (combined boys & girls) nominees from Iowa of all places. California only has 12. Jersey has 49!

Edit- I highlighted the ones I thought have a good shot at making the final 24 man roster, based on early reports. Currently there are only 2 McD's AA playing in the BE.

Paschal Chukwu Fairfield College Prep Fairfield Connecticut

Makinde London Montverde Academy Montverde Florida

Ahmed Hill Aquinas High School Augusta Geogia

Paul White Whitney Young High School Chicago Illinois

Trevon Bluiett Park Tudor School Indianapolis Indiana

Kelan Martin Ballard High School Louisville Kentucky

Phil Booth Mt. St. Joseph High School Baltimore Maryland

Edmond Sumner Detroit Country Day School Beverly Hills Michigan

Angel Delgado Patrick School Elizabeth New Jersey

Ishmael Sanogo East Side High School Newark New Jersey

Marial Shayok Blair Academy Blairstown New Jersey

Khadeen Carrington Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School New York New York

Desi Rodriguez Abraham Lincoln High School Brooklyn New York

Isaiah Whitehead Lincoln High School Brooklyn New York

Mikal Bridges Great Valley High School Malvern Pennsylvania

Satchel Piece Pittsburgh Kiski School Vandergrift Pennsylvania

L.J. Peak Gaffney High School Gaffney South Carolina

Leon Gilmore Manvel High School Manvel Texas

Jalen Lindsey Huntington Prep Huntington West Virginia

Sandy Cohen Seymour High School Seymour Wisconsin

I was surprised JP Macura & Sean O'mara weren't on the list. Isaac Copeland too, just not sure about some prep schools & MCD AA game.

I figured that the coach just nominated all his regular rotation guys. Turns out, it was only 3: London, along with D'Angelo Russell and Justin Bibbs. Maybe only the seniors?

Got to be kind of embarrassing. Then you have a guy like Ronnie Harrell putting up numbers, next to a 4* guard on a good team, but doesn't get nominated.

5th year players arent eligible to be McDonalds All Americans, which is why someone like Copeland or Chris McCullough are left off. Realistically Whitehead is probably the only Big East recruit to be an All American. Bluiett might have an outside chance. At the start of the year I would put Delgado in Bluietts category but with the switching off schools he is probably eliminated.
