Ish is listed as the #8 (Rivals) player in Jersey, 3 stars, to start the season and his team Newark Eastside (NJ) is ranked as high as #5 in the state preseason rankings. Eastside began play on Saturday in the Hoop Group Tip-Off Showcase (NJ). They took on Blair Academy & fellow BE signee Marial Shayok (Marq). Shayok is rated NJ's #4 player by Rivals.

Newark East Side senior Ismael Sanogo had an uneventful first half against Blair in the Hoop Group Tip-Off Showcase at West Orange High School yesterday, scoring zero points while dealing with foul trouble.

His Newark East Side teammates bailed him out, however, as the two teams went into the locker room deadlocked. Then the 6-8 senior showed why he is a Seton Hall commitment when he took over down the stretch to lead Newark East Side, No. 5 in The Star-Ledger Top 20, to a 46-43 victory. It was the season opener for East Side, while Blair fell to 5-1.

Sanogo still had trouble finding the range in the third quarter, but his first basket of the game, which came late in third quarter, gave his team a 35-31 lead before he scored on three crowd-pleasing buckets in the fourth quarter when East Side stretched its lead to as high as six points.

NJ's #1 newspaper The Start Ledger is running an online poll for top player in the big time North Jersey, Section 2 division. Right now Sanogo is leading Linden's 4* C Quadi Moore who spurned several BE schools to go to Cincy next year.

Sanogo's school Newark Eastside is the #1 school in Jersey & undefeated, Linden is #4. Seton Hall is Jersey's top D1 school so help it's top in-state recruit win this coveted bragging right. Trust me they all care to I know a couple of players on that list including Sanogo. The voting doesn't close until Friday at 11am ET and there is no limit on voting

Bad week for Sanogo. Newark Eastside loses to Seton Hall Prep on Thursday. Then he separated his shoulder tonight.
