Buzz gets a very early commitment from the son of former Marquette player who has never played a high school game.

After playing pick up games Friday evening with the current Marquette University men’s basketball players, Wisconsin Rapids Philip Flory was called into Golden Eagles coach Buzz Williams’ office. Sitting with his parents, Mike and Wendy Flory, no one was prepared for what happened next.

Williams offered the 15-year-old a verbal scholarship. Philip Flory is the youngest player Williams has ever extended an offer.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Philip said. “I had no idea why we were going up to coach Buzz’s office and he offered me a verbal scholarship.”

Added Mike Flory, who played for the Golden Eagles from 1986-89, “We hoped to get to this point someday and it happened Friday night. All of us were completely shocked that Philip was offered a scholarship. I’m still in awe.”

Technically his dad played for the Marquette warriors in the 80s ( :P ). The kid is projected as the #1 player in Wisconsin for 2017, so if he lives up to his potential and sticks with the commitment then he will be a great addition. Can't wait to see him play.

Apparently he is no longer committed to Marquette? Flory was at Creighton yesterday on an unofficial visit.

Correct, I believe he reopened his recruitment when Buzz left.
