Cooley pushed for the commitment ahead of the joint Abu/Terrell press conference on the 7th.

huge get for the friars, literally. By all accounts he's a legit 4 star (ESPN top 100) and just needs a little polish and to bulk up. Friars aren't done yet either. Monster class possible. 247 sports ranks them 10th in the country for 2014 class so far with Lindsey and Chukwu verbal commits.

Congrats! Nice get for PC and the Big East! What do we have now, about 11-12 top 100 guys? Great work by everyone! Seems the top guys like the idea of playing in the top basketball first conference!

Congrats! It's impossible to quantify how much the new Big East plays into the commitments but I have to think it has some effect.

Well done PC. I recall when the formation of this league was happening there were fans from some Midwest schools (either SLU or Dayton) who were saying that Prov, SHU and DePaul did not merit inclusion regardless of their long-time affiliation with the original BE. I remember commenting that Prov was a sleeping giant and on the road back. Very impressed with Cooley's ability to recruit. Can Prov replace UCONN as the premier New England BB power? Maybe so.

Hopefully it plays some role or has some effect for some of the targets Creighton is after right now. Jays fans are getting pretty impatient waiting for even a relatively "big" get. Coming into the Big East, national television for almost every single game, returning two-time All American/likely first round draft pick, NBA arena + nearly top 5 national attendance, etc. -- and so far ZERO noteworthy signings in the recruiting. Several potential big-time players with Creighton on their narrowing lists, etc., but that's not new (the Jays have been in the final two or three for some really huge targets the last several years, including Russel Westbrook and Pierre Jackson).

Seeing everyone else seeming to land big targets is leaving Jays fans itching to join the crowd!

A rising tide lifts all boats.

I'm happy to see so much positive feedback from other programs in the new BE. It's essential that all of our programs continue to build/reload, in order to fortify the BE brand, and subsequently take it to teams from the other power conferences.

Paschal will graduate from Fairfield Prep in Fairfield CT. Prep is coached by 90' Xavier alum and huge X fan Leo Redgate. I am really surprised if he turns out to be a top 100 player that X didn't really take a hard look?
