I think it's true there won't be an announcement until a conference exists. That could be after the season. I suspect things will go down quickly once an announcement is made, official exit, creation of conference, invites and other teams exit strategies, etc.

I don't know why JohnT thinks VCU has no chance. Sure, I wouldn't be surprised if Butler and Xavier, plus maybe one more, have already been given a heads up, but why suspect everyone is in lock step on 2 more, or even if 2 more should be added? One thing sources do seem to indicate is that at the very least there is still discussion going on.
