Wow! What a run by the Pirates! Loved that they took a tough situation and made the most of it. A valuable lesson was learned: You can’t control what happens to you. But you can control how you respond to it. SHU (and Indiana State for that matter) should’ve made the tournament. Anyway, let’s review!

My 0.02
IMO, Shaheen should’ve won coach of the year. These dudes had ZERO expectations. They had a real quiet offseason after a pretty mediocre season last year and they end up finishing 4th in the league and won 25 games. Guys like Richmond and Davis became STUDS. If those 2 guys stick around, SHU will be a SQUAD. The 2 big highlights IMO were a 15 point home win over UConn and of course winning the NIT. How these guys didn’t make the big dance really baffles me. I bet even the committee agrees with me right now hahaha. Still a solid year for the Pirates. If they can keep their core intact and maybe add other good pieces from the portal, they’ll break through to the big dance next year!
UPDATE: Davis entered the portal. At first, I was confused. But then I learned that there’s multiple personal circumstances in why he did that. He’s a dad to a 1 year old daughter and his GF (mom) just finished her collegiate eligibility at St Peter’s. Davis and his GF are both from Indiana and with Davis having 1 more year left, he likely wants to spend it in his home state. Also, I've heard rumors that Richmond may enter the portal. We’ll see…..
UPDATE II: Davis ends up at Ole Miss??? Uhh what?
