Ahh damn! Johnnies missed the cut for the tourney. I thought they should’ve made it. Unfortunately, I’m not on the committee. Anyway, let’s review the Red Storm

OUT
*Sean Conway (out of eligibility)
*Chris Ledlum (out of eligibility)
*Joel Soriano (out of eligibility)
*Daniss Jenkins (out of eligibility)
*Jordan Dingle (out of eligibility)
*Nahiem Alleyne (out of eligibility)
*Cruz Davis (transferring to Hofstra)
*Drissa Traore (transferring to Rhode Island)
*Glenn Taylor

BACK
*RJ Luis
*Zuby Ejiofor
*Brady Dunlap
*Simeon Wilcher

IN
*Lefteris Liotopoulos
*Jaiden Glover
*Khaman Maker
*Vincent Iwuchukwu (transfer from USC)
*Aaron Scott (transfer from North Texas)
*Deivon Smith (transfer from Utah)
*Kadary Richmond (transfer from Seton Hall)

My 0.02:
Wow! That’s a lot of dudes on their way out but also a lot of guys that should return. I think Luis is a stud and could see him in the NBA one day. Guys like Wilcher, Dunlap and Taylor are talented guards that’ll give the Johnnies a very good backcourt if they all stick around. Usually I think rejecting the NIT is a mistake because it’s an opportunity to build momentum for next season. But maybe I can’t blame Rick too much for wanting to call it a season early because he gets PISSED when he doesn’t make the dance and also he needs to hit the portal hard to fill all those spots that the outgoing players are opening up. Chins up, St John’s brethren. I know Selection Sunday was hard for you guys but brighter days are ahead for this team!
UPDATE: Taylor hit the portal. But guys like Luis, Wilcher and Dunlap make a good core to build around. Johnnies need to find some good players in the portal to make it happen

I think Pitino has his eyes on bigger fish in the portal and out of HS. Taylor did leave the door open to return although I doubt he does. He was a good glue guy and brought some good energy on the floor.

wow sounds like they are working a home and home with St John's and Kentucky, to start next(this) season. 24 at Kentucky, 25 at MSG.

That's awesome.

Sounds like Ledlum is trying to get another year of eligibility. But he's a last minute addition to the portal. So if he does get an extra year, he won't spend it at St John's

Supposedly it was Pitino who suggested Ledlum put his name in the portal. St. John's is still in the mix for some big name transfers, whether they get them or not is anybody's guess. If they do, that could impact available NIL money as well as playing time, and Ledlum might want to consider going elsewhere. If they don't get anyone, then I think there is a good chance Ledlum returns. Either way I'm sure Pitino will be up front with him, and after weighing the pros and cons, Ledlum will make whatever is the best decision for himself. And all of this is contingent, of course, on whether he even is granted another year of eligibility.
