Greg McDermott and Creighton are nearing contract extension that would allow the coach to retire at Creighton. Not done yet.

Very good news. The contract he signed 2 or 3 years ago was supposed to do that too, but I suppose he had leverage again with the rumors swirling about schools being interested.

Insert every Providence fan saying literally the same exact thing in 2022. Will be interesting to see if the BFF's handle things the same way or not.

CU has officially confirmed a 5 year contract extension with one year options after that.

Congrats to Creighton.

Good for the Bluejays and the Big East.

+1

Creighton has been the best of the new additions and having stability at head coach is a big reason why.

The new additions have largely been carrying the league in terms of NCAA Tournament success (obviously outside of Villanova). Below are NCAA credits by team since since the 2013-14 realignment.

Villanova - 28
Xavier - 15
Creighton - 13
Providence - 10
Butler - 9
Seton Hall - 6
Marquette - 5
Georgetown - 3
St. John's - 2
DePaul - 0

UConn since joining in 2020-21 - 8. If using the same time period beginning with 2013-14 realignment, UConn would have contributed 16.

You would hope Creighton would pass Xavier this year.

Always amazing seeing this list and seeing Marquette/Georgteown/St John's with 10 combined. Especially M/G as they were going really well when the conference changed.
