Villanova probably needs 7 wins to safely make the field. 18 wins doesn't sound like a lot, but Nova's 4 best wins (UNC, Texas Tech, Memphis, @Creighton) are all away from home and aging well. Even home wins vs X, Maryland, and UCLA are trending up. Looking at the remaining schedule, 7 wins feels very doable.

1 of 4 against UConn, Creighton at home, Marquette at home
2 of 2 against Georgetown
1 of 2 against Butler
1 of 2 against Seton Hall
1 of 2 against Providence
1 of 2 @SJU and @X

Basically mediocrity will get Nova in. Do I have faith in Kyle Neptune to be mediocre? That's a different story.

The way St. John's looked tonight I may have spoken too soon about expecting easy wins vs DePaul and Georgetown. What an embarrassing, uninspired performance. And hats off to The Hall, they're doing far better this season than I ever expected.

I went to bed pissed off at the St Johns game.

Woke up feeling more glass half full. More of the team is probably sick than we know, not having Pitino out there. Just felt like the team wasnt ready to go.

And when you aren't ready to go in the big east, you pay for it.

Which leads me to my next takeaway. Holloway is a hell of a coach. Seton Hall smelled blood in the water and took care of a business like top tier teams do. And yes, they have to be considered a top tier Big East team at this point, 6-1 start is absurd. I mean I admit I was a Wusu guy when he was here, but I am impressed Holloway is doing this with the talent he has
