It's time to review Marquette

Disappointing ending to the season but it was still one helluva year for Marquette!

OUT:
*Olivier-Maxence Prosper (going pro)

STAY:
*Kam Jones
*Stevie Mitchell
*Tyler Kolek
*Oso Ighodaro
*David Joplin
*Ben Gold
*Chase Ross
*Sean Jones

IN:
*Al Amadou
*Zaide Lowery
*Tre Norman

My 0.02:
*Helluva year for the Golden Eagles. Went from not being taken very seriously in the preseason to the champions of the league. Shaka Smart has found his home in Milwaukee and he fits like a glove at Marquette. Couldn't say that about him when he was at Texas. Marquette could keep just about everyone. If they have little to no players move on.....LOOK OUT

POST-DEADLINE UPDATE:
Wow. Marquette lost just one significant player from last season while keeping the vast majority of the team. That's amazing. No doubt the Golden Eagles will be picked to win the league again in the coming season. Kolek, Jones, Mitchell Ighodaro and Joplin are all damn good players. They'll have a chip on their shoulder after a disappointing March.

Parrish talked about Marquette probably being near the top of the pre-season polls if most of the players stay. I think Marquette, Creighton, and UCONN gets the most attention, but that's before we're factoring in the transfer portal and 3 new coaching hires.

SO Emarion Ellis (Guard) enters portal. He missed last season due to injury. Was a highly recruited member of Shaka's first class (and came over after originally committing from Texas).

If he commits elsewhere, and Wrightsil is done (I believe he still has a COVID year left, if wanted), then (with our incoming freshmen) we are at our scholarship limit for next year.

We wish the young man luck at his next stop. Playing time was going to be a challenge for him next year with Kolek, Mitchell, Joneses, Ross and New Frosh coming in.

OMax is entering the NBA Draft, but retaining NCAA eligibility. It doesn't sound like he will be returning though. In addition to Ellis, both Wrightsil and Itejere are also in the transfer portal.

I believe Joplin slides into the starting lineup in place of OMax, with a transfer to add to the depth on the bench.

So are Kolek and Kam Jones messing with Marquette fans about leaving? The twitterverse is abuzz.

Royce Parham, 6’9” big man from Pittsburgh in class of ‘24 commits to MU today. Also, in that class, MU has 6’8” wing Demarious Owens from NY state.
