Now that we’re approaching the half way point in the regular season, it’s interesting to look for trends. Here are the Big East team leaders in various statistical categories with each team’s national rank in parentheses.

Points/Game - Xavier (15) 83.9

Opponent Field Goal % - UConn (23) 38.4
Opponent 3 Field Goal % - UConn (8) 26.5
Opponent Points/Game - UConn (14) 59.1
Scoring Margin/Game - UConn (4) 23.8

Rebounds/Game - St. John’s (5) 45.4
Off Rebs/Game - St. John’s (6) 13.6
Opponent R/G - Providence (22) 33.3 - Tied
Opponent R/G - Connecticut (22) 33.3 - Tied
Rebound Margin/Game - Providence (8) 9.9

Fewest Turnovers/Game - Villanova (7) 9.9
Opponent Turnovers/Game - UConn (43) 16.3

Somewhat meaningless when there is such a difference in quality of opponents.

Not really meaningless. There are other ways to evaluate the relative accomplishments of the teams despite the differences in their opponents. But once you’ve gotten there, these numbers give you insights into how they’ve done what they’ve done.
