St John's couldn't even make the cut for the NIT. Not a good look for Mike Anderson and his crew. Let's review them:

OUT:
*Aaron Wheeler (going pro)
*Julian Champagnie (going pro)
*Stef Smith
*Tareq Coburn

STAY:
*Rafael Pinzón
*Esahia Nyiwe
*Joel Soriano
*Dylan Addae-Wusu
*Omar Stanley
*Posh Alexander
*Montez Mathis

IN:
*AJ Storr
*Kolby King
*Mohamed Keita
*Andre Curbelo (transfer from Illinois)
*David Jones (transfer from DePaul)

My 0.02:
Yikes. You're in year 3, you go 17-15 and 8-11 in league play and you can't even make the NIT? No wonder Anderson is considering bolting the Big Apple for Tulsa. That just ain't gonna cut it. This recruiting class doesn't convince me either that things are heading in a good direction. Maybe Anderson could be given one more year but next year will be his put-up-or-shut-up year.
UPDATE: St John's will stick with Anderson. Ok. Like I said, he can get one last year but if he doesn't make the NCAA Tournament, he gone. Better hope Alexander and Champagnie stay

Yup. Not expecting St Johns to be any good next season now that they lost Champagnie

I'm bitter, but that's got to be the most blatant example of tampering with another school's player so far.

2 years ago it was we finally have a legit big man with Toro, how did he turn out.
Last year it was oh these new guys are so much better than the guys who transferred out. Well ummm 2 years ago they finished 4th in the b.e, and the new guys last year finished 7th.
Well I hope sju fans isn't doing it to themselves again, I know I'm not.
Curbelo was a highly touted recruit, he had a great freshman year at Illinois, but then very little since.
Jones could avg 15, 16, 17 points a game? Yeah just like smith and coburn were our shooters last year, how great were they? People love to hype with sju, I'm done with the hype bs. Next year it's time to put up.

This was a solid off-season for St. John's. Nearly a best case scenario.

That said, we still lost our best player and our third (second?) best player... for a team that didn't even make the NIT.

I'm not falling for the hype. If we make the Tournament then great. If not then that's fine too as it'd likely mean a new coach.

Again, solid off-season and credit to the staff for that, but so many St. John's fans on Twitter are embarrassing themselves and haven't learned anything from the past couple decades of St. John's basketball.

My prediction is we'll be a bubble team, which is exactly where Rothstein has us.
