He probably feels some loyalty to Iona, after they were the only ones to step up and hire him, when everybody else felt he was too toxic. Not good news for St John's to have him recruiting against them in their own back yard. Once recruits know he's staying put, I'm guessing he takes things to a whole new level with the players he gets. Looks like we missed the boat. Again.

A lifetime contract, though, is what? Five years? Six years? Pitino will be 70 years old by the time next season tips-off. Williams and Coach K were 70 and 74, respectively, when they announced retirement. Boeheim can't be far behind them (would be shocked if he stays past his two sons' eligibility at Syracuse). Iona is a great fit for him to close his career.
