Did nobody tell Butler that you're supposed to play exhibitions before the start of the season?

Yea, not a fan of D2 schools on the schedule. Don't make Fox televise that. Hard to imagine they couldn't have found an additional Horizon or OVC team for a run of the mill buy game.

SHU did it for some reason this year too. All I can think of is they wanted to schedule another cupcake without hurting the SOS.

between this and Chaminade going to make it close to impossible for Butler to even have a remote shot at the tourney. The 2 wins won't count towards their record. So need instead of getting to 18-13 record probably closer to 19-12 and maybe even 20-11 will be needed. Could basically enter conference play at 5-4(beating Oklahoma but losing to Purdue). They could go 11-9 in conference and be best case on the bubble.

To me, if you have a chance of playing Chaminade in a tourney, you don't schedule another non d1 game.

at least with SHU you guys have a good OOC schedule otherwise. Yale, Wagner, and Iona are solid teams. Michigan, Ohio St, Texas, and Rutgers.

good but not too tough. definitely in the just right column.

Yea, my understanding is that there's something of a loophole where a game against a D2 school doesn't technically count as a game, but a game against a low-major counts as a bad game. Setting aside my feeling that that's a dumb loophole - Fox has been good to the conference, the teams should be giving Fox something to work with. Bring in an extra Indiana public and bump your ticket sales a little, even if it's just Fort Wayne.

Pot meet kettle...

CCSU +51
Coppin St. +35
LIU +53
Bingamton +24
UMES
Grambling

Not a murderers row by any stretch.

I could be wrong but I thought that only applied to the RPI. Something along the lines of your opponents' records impacting your RPI. So a DI school with a .333 win pct negatively impacts your opponents' overall win pct and drags down your SOS, whereas a D2 school just doesn't appear at all. I don't think it works with NET, where efficiency is more important than who you play.

Whatever it is, I don't think Big East teams should be scheduling D2 schools once the season starts.
