2021 March Madness Thread

Friday
9:57 PM Villanova vs. Winthrop

Saturday
12:15 PM Georgetown vs. Colorado
3:30 PM Creighton vs. UCSB
7:10 PM UCONN vs. Maryland

The Big East is both underrepresented and disrespected seeding wise. But the positive is that I feel like all four teams have a viable path to the S16 and beyond, especially Creighton.

Welcome back Georgetown and Connecticut!

Disrespected seeding wise? Uh?

I think the seeding are as fair as they can be! and in terms of representation - the conference beat one another up. we are lucky to even have four. If Xavier, Seton Hall and the Johnies would've won a few key matchups things would be a lot different

I like the matchups. There was a legitimate concern that Nova might get dropped a seed line or two, similar to Cincy/Martin or Purdue/Hummel following injuries. No complaints about either of the 5s and that Creighton was the highest five seed surprised me. UConn and Hoyas both have first round games they can win also.

Very excited for post season basketball.

Georgetown gets to play @ hinkle where they are 6-2 all time. They love shooting in that gym. Huge boost to their chances.

Unfortunately it sounds like teams will play in different locations each round, so won't get that same boost if we advance, at least not in the second round.

Frankly everything is gravy at this point. Can't believe we're in the tournament after the way the season started. Played like a top 25 team post covid pause though. Defense improved so dramatically it's nuts. Jumped like 60 points in kepom defensive metric from precovid to end of the year.

Big Ten has 9 of the 68 teams. Can they break their 2 decade long streak without winning a national title?

Here's a bet - which group will the NCAA champ come from:
1) Gonzaga or Baylor
2) Big Ten
3) The Field

Geno Auriemma tested positive for Covid and will miss the first 2 games of the NCAA tourney. Luckily the rest of the team is good to go to San Antonio as contract tracing revealed no contact with other members of the program.

Yea, I am a big fan of Bilas because of his outspoken critique of the NCAA, but hes always down on the Big East.

Very interesting.

I’m going to go with the B1G.

what is funny- I'd probably pick The Field last.

I'd say Big Ten.
