I don't understand Val and co.'s insistence on playing the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden. The priority (both financially and otherwise) needs to be ensuring Big East teams are healthy for the NCAA tournament. Get them in Indianapolis, in a some sort of a bubble for the Big East tournament so they can role right into the NCAA. Big 10 just moved their tournament from Chicago to Indianapolis. The lack of proactiveness or contingency planning over the entire season from the Big East office has been disappointing.

I'm guessing this has to do with $$$. We don't have the football cash cow, missing BET 2 years in a row will probably be a killer financially.

I think at least some of it is the conference's show of good faith with the MSG to maintain good working relationship. They've been good to us.

I would be a little - a lot - stronger about it than that: MSG is a strategic partner and a strategic asset to the BE. We enjoy a conference championship like no other. We HAVE to keep that relationship rock solid, regardless of the consequences of a pandemic that will eventually subside in its effect and influence.

This. MSG is hurting for events (I know the Knicks and Rangers are back but MSG's schedule is nowhere near back to normal) and playing our tournament somehwere else in their time of need would be a major slap in the face to them. If we pull that, I honestly wouldn't blame them for going and giving the B1G or ACC our week in the years beyond our contract. MSG is an important partner to our league and I'm sure we can work out a reasonable solution that's beneficial to both entities. If not, we're better off canceling than playing somewhere else.

Great news, but dont count on going if youre not a close family member. If its even held at MSG, itll probably be 150-200 tickets per team and would be family members only. But Ill be ready next year for full capacity with crazy Uconn fans. Atmosphere will be amazing

That's not a set of good choices.
Keeping our relations strong with MSG...even with no fans. Having to solely rely on TV dollars/insurance dollars.

While at the same time running a major risk of losing team (s) to Covid and missing the
NCAA Tourney and its $Million+ per head.

I don't envy Val and the conference. :?
