I can’t remember a more important OOC game since realignment. If the narrative has been it’s Nova and a collection of good, not great, teams in the BE, this game has some pretty big repercussions. First, it’s a Top 10 matchup. Not sure we’ve had one of those OOC sans VNova. Second, it’s against KU, a blue blood, so it will get national attention. It’s a battle of who is the most dominant team in the Great Plains this year with potential seed implications. And lastly it’s an opportunity to cement the BE as a power. We knock off TX and KU within a couple of days and people will notice. Wins like that set up the rest of the league with huge opportunities when we play in conference.

No pressure... :D But the fate of the conference lies in your hands (at least for one night). Hoping Jay W and Mac are talking about this one. We’ve seen them a bunch recently and seem to have the recipe to beat Self and Co. I like CU’s chances. Spread em out and fire away.
Go Nova!

Good points. I believe the Jays have the team to win. Hopefully, they play loose and bring it home. Interesting side bits you will hear- Nick Bahe is from Lincoln, NE and played a year at KU before transferring to CU to play for Dana Altman. Mitch Ballock, who lives about 10 minutes from Lawerence KS turned down KU and went to CU instead. WIll be a strange homecoming for him!

I’ll certainly be rooting for the Bluejays to win. My strong dislike of state schools is well-documented.

It's unfortunate the game is being played at Allen Fieldhouse, where the Jayhawks expect to get favorable calls from the officials, and almost always do.

#9 Creighton Bluejays @ #7 Kansas Jayhawks – ESPN Gamecast Preview

#9 Creighton Rolls Past Owls in Tune-Up For #7 Kansas - Creighton University - December 4, 2020
OMAHA, Neb. -- Forty-one bench points and 22 fast break points helped No. 9 Creighton improve to 3-0 on the season with a 93-58 win over Kennesaw State on Friday. The stakes get considerably higher on Tuesday, when the Bluejays meet No. 7 Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse as part of the Big 12 - BIG EAST Battle.

Six Bluejays scored in double-figures, led by 14 each from freshman Ryan Kalkbrenner and Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year Marcus Zegarowski. Damien Jefferson added 13 points, Christian Bishop and Shereef Mitchell added 11 and Mitch Ballock chipped in with 10.

Creighton shot 55.7 percent from the field (34-61) and made 18-of-21 free throws. The Bluejays also won the rebound battle 38-31 and had 15 assists against just seven turnovers.

NOTES: Creighton has won its first three games for the eighth time in 11 seasons under Greg McDermott ... Creighton is 26-1 in its last 27 home games, and has won the past 10 ... Creighton improved to 88-6 in non-conference home games under Greg McDermott ... Creighton has started with three straight double-figure victories for the first time since 2012-13 ... Creighton has won nine straight home games by double-figures, tied for the third-longest streak in program history ... Greg McDermott improved to 234-116 with the Bluejays after winning the 350th game he coached in from the Creighton sideline ... Shereef Mitchell's 11 points tied a career-high ... Mitch Ballock moved into 40th on Creighton's all-time scoring list and now owns 1,022 career ponits, passing Austin Chatman (1,013) ... Creighton has made a three-pointer in 885 straight games, tied for nation's 15th-longest active streak ... Creighton has won 31 straight home games played on a Friday ... Creighton has won 15 straight games when five or more players score in double-figures.

I can't be the only one who thinks Creighton is the favorite in this one.

I've watched both teams and it looks about as even as it gets from the JUMP.
However, me thinks it will come down to bench strength, and IMO the Jays have a game winning edge. Antwan Jones, Kalk, Mitchell and....wait for it.....Epperson delivers!

#8 Creighton Visits #5 Kansas on Tuesday in Big 12-BIG EAST Battle - Creighton University - December 7, 2020
Creighton seeks fifth straight win over a top-10 team

Scouting #8 Creighton

Scouting #5 Kansas

The Series With Kansas

Kansas leads the all-time series with Creighton by a 9-6 count, including a 5-1 advantage in Lawrence. The teams have not met since a 55-54 KU win in Tulsa in the 1974 NCAA Tournament, and Creighton's last win in the series came on Dec. 5, 1949 (59-55 in Omaha). Creighton's lone win in Lawrence came on Dec. 15, 1942. That Creighton team beat KU both in Lawrence and Omaha during a 16-0 regular-season.

The Flyer Faithful will be cheering for Creighton this afternoon, as Kansas beat Dayton in overtime in last year’s Maui Invitational championship game. Revenge by a Catholic school would be sweet.

GO BLUEJAYS!

IMO the easiest path to victory is setting the pace on offense/transition and generating good looks. if the jays' offense is working today, KU has their work cut out for them. i doubt they can keep up with us in a shootout.

i am going to assume a dogfight favors KU - they are at home and have more presence on the glass than us. either way I just hope its a competitive game (or a blowout favoring CU :D )
