Jay Wright/76ers

Looks and sounds like Brett Brown will be fired as head coach of the 76ers this week. All signs point to the 76ers making another run/offer at Jay Wright again.

Would this be the time Jay finally jumps to the NBA? If it is not now (with Simmons and Embiid), then I sincerely doubt he ever jumps. If he does jump, who replaces the legend at Villanova (and what would that do to the hierarchy of the Big East)?

For the Big East and Villanova, I sincerely hope he stays (but would not be surprised if he jumped now either).

He's got a national championship contending team and a rockstar class coming in. Im sure they will throw a boatload of cash at him so who knows I guess...

Could he be lured? Sure. He’s a Philly guy who grew up a Sixers fan. Stranger things have happened.

But look at that roster and tell me if any of it says: “Jay Wright.” They’ve got a PG locked up for big money who doesn’t shoot. Their best player is a throw back 5 in a league that changed 10 years ago. He’s also owed huge money for multiple years. They signed another big last year for big, long term money in Al Horford. Tobias Harris is lazy on D. and shrinks in big spots. Etc, etc. This Sixers team is flawed in how it was constructed. And I’m sure they wouldn’t give Jay GM duties so he could build his own team to fit his style.

I just don’t see the fit. And If it was about money Jay would have gone to UCLA when they (reportedly) offered him $8M / yr.

Only if he is about ready to retire. College coaches going to the NBA don't have a great track record. NBA teams have a very short fuse, and think nothing of paying off the last several years of a multi-million dollar a year contract. He could be done in a couple of years and walk away with many more millions then he would make coaching another 10 years at Nova. That could be tempting. But, I think he likes college basketball and the Big East too much. (There, jinxed it for you Wildcats  )

Geez. I may have to put my Midwestern Bias back in storage.

I am available to coach Villanova...I luv Philly, cheesesteak sammiches, and duckboat rides.
I have posed next to the Rocky Statue, ran the stairs, and kiss babies (I am a natural-borne politician). ;)

My favorite color is blue, I know the route to Radnor Township, and already have a relationship with the local
Dunkin' Donuts shop. I am intimately familiar with the loyal fanbase and am a consumate suck up artist/kissass.

I am widely known for being a great seat-of-the-pants know-it-all, cheap seats jerk, and coaching expert.
Like Big Mac, I have a 10-year Plan.
I'm Catholic.

Perfect for the job! Vote for me n I'll set you free! (what's it pay again? $3.5 Mill, $4 Mill.?)

This is a situation where Covid has worked in our favor. Jay wasn't going to leave Nova with the season right around the corner. Had this been a usual season, and the opening come in the spring, he may have given it serious consideration.
