In 2019, according to its most recent NCAA financial report, Cincinnati spent about $68.8 million on athletics. About 43 percent of that money came from "direct institutional support," such as student fees, tuition, tuition waivers and endowments not earmarked specifically for athletics. According to the report, the men's soccer program had operating losses of $726,498.

So Val couldn’t cancel the tournament until NYC told her to which was required for the Big East to collect on their insurance policy. I had not seen that published previously.
