Team Rankings Week 2

So after two weeks of play, how do you see the teams lining up?

1.) Seton Hall - They played a phenomenal game against the best the Big Ten has. A few mistakes and a bad call in the final minutes and they would have had them. They are playing well.
2.) Xaiver - Xavier just always seems to perform. They looked solid.
3.) Villanova - It's just one game but they looked pretty out of it. No doubt if anyone can get a team on track it's Jay Wright.
4.) Marquette - They were as calm as could be against Purdue. They did not panic at 18 points down, but trusted the plan. They could easily be third on this list.
5.) DePaul - I know they were picked 10th. But they did not play like a team picked 10th. They passed the eye test this week and if they continue to improve the Big East may finally grab a hold in the Windy City.
6.) Butler - Another team that played cool and collected. They followed the game plan and grabbed an important win at Hinkle.
7.) St. John's - The Johnnies have not been tested yet. They will play a good Vermont team this weekend and then Arizona State and possibly Virginia over the course of the next two weekends. So this could change. But they have clearly bought in to the new system and look like they may wind up higher than 9th.
8.) Creighton - They gave Michigan a good game on the road. Tough place to win.
9.) Providence - They have some talent on that roster but they did not play smart. Was hard to figure out what they were trying to do at times. Providence should beat Northwestern every time out - and they should have won this week.
10.) Georgetown - They got themselves in a hole they couldn't get out of this time. No offensive scheme, they looked panicked at times and should have beaten Penn State at home.

Thoughts?

I think I'd flip St. John's and Creighton for now. Could be wrong, but giving Creighton the benefit of the doubt for now with their respective track records

DePaul is not 5th.

And the last three won’t finish below 7th either.

As an X fan, I can honestly say they are not good right now. Hope a week of practice can turns things around.

They probably won’t end that way but no one is playing better than Butler. They’re going to end up being in the neighborhood of 20 in Kenpom tomorrow

Based on results to this point in the season, I'm not sure how you could say they're worse than St. John's, Georgetown, or Providence.

And you could make a case for them ahead of Butler and/or Creighton.

Suppose you can make a case for it, not one that would actually win an argument, but a case nonetheless.

Here is the ratings as of this morning:

    Villanova --- 11
    Marquette --- 12
    Seton Hall --- 20
    Butler --- 22
    Xavier --- 26
    Providence --- 30
    Creighton --- 38
    DePaul --- 65
    Georgetown --- 67
    St. John's --- 94
