Could the Big East (and the WAC) (re)build (FCS) FB leagues?

The WAC is adding Tarleton State for Olympic sports, and all of a sudden there is talk that there is a long-term goal of bringing back FB in the FCS classification.

I'm finding it hard to believe UConn is long for the FBS world. They are a joke and now there is no post-season access point even if they could field a capable team. Bowls are aligned with league partnerships, and ESPN owns a good share of them.

Obviously if other leagues are talking about putting together an FCS conference, there are solid reasons for doing so.

Would a NBE FCS league provide good content for the next television talks? Would FS1 broadcast some UConn-Villanova and UConn-Georgetown FCS football games?

With a core of Villanova, Georgetown, Butler, and UConn, how may the conference build up to the required number to sponsor the sport?

Why not build with FB Only affiliates: Fordham, Davidson, Dayton, Valpo, Duquesne, Albany, UNH, URI?

If the NBE can secure television coverage, I'd think FCS could have its benefits.

There’s absolutely zero chance an FCS FB league should create instability.
Hell, UConn is in FBS now and has no shot. Their haplessness in FB made them toxic.
There’s no reason that UConn (and everyone) can’t be respectable on the FCS level. And even if they are, who cares? I don’t see NBE fans being so invested in FB that they’ll celebrate them being jettisoned, like the AAC folks

serious question since i'm not following the WAC. is there really talk (ie in media interviews etc) about a new FCS conference and not some chatter from internet posters?

the BE FCS programs have chosen very different paths. Nova is a former national champ in a conference that has had multiple national champs. Butler is in the non scholarship Pioneer Football League. Georgetown choses not to offer schollies despite the Patriot moving to partial scholarships. Seems to me very disparate missions for the three schools. I don't envision the draw for them to join together

What's this "NBE?" Never heard of it. But if they don't currently sponsor football, then no, unless the large majority of its members already play the sport it would be pointless and stupid to add, even at the FCS level.

This. Only AAC trolls refer to it as "NBE."
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

i dislike "new" as well. Commissioner Val usually says "reconfigured" but in her opening remarks from media day, she said the "new big east" several times. ugh
