2019 Gavitt Games Announced

Postby GoldenWarrior11 » Tue May 28, 2019 2:56 pm

Villanova at Ohio State
Michigan State at Seton Hall
Creighton at Michigan
Purdue at Marquette
Providence at Northwestern
Penn State at Georgetown
Minnesota at Butler
DePaul at Iowa

Well, well, well. Michigan State finally enters the series. So much for them having so much power to avoid getting into it.

Xavier and St. John's are both skipped; B1G gets Indiana, Maryland, Illinois, Wisconsin, Rutgers and Nebraska exempt.

Well now we really need Myles Powell to return. This schedule is loaded.

I too was wondering if they would ever be involved. Very nice slate of games.

so looking-
Big Ten side of things- everyone not named Michigan St will have been in 3 times in the first 5 years. So in the remaining 3 years, everyone has to participate once except for Michigan St, who would have to be in all 3 years....

Big East side of things- Butler and Xavier only would have been in 3 years. So last 3 years- those 2 have to be in all 3 years. Creighton and DePaul- have been in all 5 years. Everyone else sits at 4.

The thing is, MSU participating is bad news for the Big East. They were forced into this arrangement against their will, and thus MSU will convince the B1G to cancel the series entirely.

Knew we weren't participating this year. Was actually shocked we took part last season.

I will be interested to see how the Big East integrate UCONN into future Gavitt Games.

So I popped over to the other board to see if there was anything interesting from UConn fans. Nothing really on that front, but Stever did take your sarcasm here and try to spin it as a valid point
