Surprising season from the Pirates! Didn't think they'd be good and an NIT-at-best kind of team but they proved me and so many others wrong after losing so much from last year. Myles Powell had his coming out year and he was fun to watch. Similar to Marquette, if their top guy returns (because most of the team should be back) they'll definitely be expected to be a conference contender and not only make the NCAA Tourney again but make a run. If Powell isn't back, they'll still be good but not as good without him. Willard has gotten flack in the past (and in some cases has deserved it) but this season IMO is his best coaching job yet. Chin up, Pirates.

No reason think Powell won't be back. He'll obviously declare for the draft to test the waters, but he even said last night that he has no plans to leave.

Tough ending sours what was a surprisingly good campaign overall, but I have a tough time seeing them improve on it unless they find another reliable shooter

Man, they ran into a buzzsaw last night. Helluva a comeback, Powell again put them on his back, but he was gassed by the end of the game. Wofford is the real deal.

Great season, especially with who Hall lost from last year. The freshman did grow a lot. I think Hall will be a force in the league next year.

From Myles Powell post-game:

“I’ll consider my options," he said. "I know Coach Willard knows what’s best for me. My career is in his hands. Coach Willard got me here, so I know if it was time for me to go or to do anything else, he would let me know. I don’t plan on leaving. I love these guys and if I had to do it all over again, I’d do it in a heartbeat.”

If Powell returns they will be pre-season T25 no doubt. Even though I was disappointed how it ended last now. I'm proud of that Hall team. I'm a bit pissed at the Big East's peformance... but it is what is.

Hopefully the league bounces back next year.

Powell testing the NBA waters. Leaves open a possibility to return (wants to maintain NCAA eligibility).

Of course, he'd be foolish not to. Looking at draft boards, it will be very surprising if he actually leaves - but if he is able to get drafted then that's awesome for him. He's not a guy I can see leaving early to play overseas or in the G-League, at least as long as Willard sticks around.

Huge news. Pirates should be very good.
