I remember in the early days when PC vs Seton Hall was often the Wednesday night game.
To me, Big East Quarterfinals Thursday has always been like the best sports day of the year.

Man I still remember this one first round game against you guys...don't recall the year (maybe 2010 or so) but we must've been up somewhere around 25-30 points with less than 15 minutes to go and it just suddenly flipped. As the Friars stormed back, even the neutral fans in the building made the Garden start to feel like the Dunk and the Pirates survived as a PC 3 to tie rimmed out at the buzzer. Crazy game.

Lol, yeah, a 109-106 game that didn't even go to overtime! Those painful Keno Davis years of matador defense.
Just checked this too...
PC and The Hall played in the Wednesday 8-vs-9 game in 1983, 1984, and 1985. Seton Hall won in 83, but the Friars won in 84 and 85. I think 86 was the first year of the Thursday nite 8-v-9 cuz the Walter Berry block was on a Sunday from what i remember. Love the Saturday night MSG finals that we currently have.
Actually, the Friars and Pirates also finished in the bottom 2 in 1980, 81 and 82. Luckily no play-in was necessary those years, with 7, 8 and 8 teams. In 1981, the Friars beat Boston College in the 1-v-8 game at the Carrier Dome on a last second shot by Ricky Tucker.
Good times.
Really looking forward to this year's tournament as i watch from my couch!

Georgetown vs Seton Hall is what I am anticipating the most

I obviously can't root against my Pirates...but a loss may not be the worst thing in the world. I can't see a loss knocking us out of the tournament (though some may disagree) but I can see it knocking us out of that 7-10 range that I think we currently sit in the lower half of. I'm not sure that even winning the tournament would get us above a 7 seed. And of course losing this game keeps Georgetown's tournament hopes alive. Not rooting for it because I want that trophy but it'll nice to be able to relax a little bit watching this one.
As for SJU, I think a win over DePaul is enough to lock up a bid (and they may not even need that, but I'd rather not test it). If that happens, well, I actually don't now what to think about the Marquette game. My initial reaction is they have a great shot because they're at home, 2-0 against Marquette, and Marquette is slumping badly at the moment. On the other hand, I absolutely subscribe to the theory that it's very difficult to beat the same team 3 times in one year regardless of who it is, and Marquette is long overdue for a win with as much talent as they have. It'll be a fun one, that's for sure.
