Haven't I been saying the last 2 years or so that these guys (B1G/ACC) aren't playing. They want to run over us...with a train.
We've got dibs, but need to get to work on the renewals for 2026 or whenever it is.
Anyone know exactly how the current deal is structured?
I would imagine Delany will offer double/triple what the current deal is...and adding a day as the B1G has 14 current members. He could talk 2 days as the B1G could expand by 2026. Doubling the deal And adding an additional day of games...tough to match. The BEast and the Garden have been a pair for 35 years and counting... Will history and tradition have a spot in MSG's heart? Will having the traditional NY and East Coast area teams leverage what will probably be an outrageous money offer? Does the MSG value what they have built and take offense to Delany's attempt to "buy them"? Will the dinars be too much to pass up - money talks...and old times sake walks. If we can put up another 2 or 3 national champions over the next 8 years, it will definitely bolster our case. C'mon group.
The BEast doesn't want a turf war...but the others do. Six years ago a 10 year extension was a long time; a big deal. No so these days. 8 years ain't long and Delany is doing a gtmo and starting extremely early (I started talking 'bout the Creighton Centennial 6 years early-back in the day.).
The BEast can win again...but it will take creativity, daring, and a bold future prospectus on our part. Are Val, Stu, and the fellas up to the task?
