The Retrievers are going to open Marquette’s new home (the Milwaukee Bucks new arena, the Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center) on Nov. 6. And they are looking for one more road, one-way (no return) high-profile game.

UMBC opening our new arena. Was hoping for a bigger, high-profile, game (like ND) to open the stadium.

I would guess Marquette needs to open the season on the 6th and outside something like that champions classic- most power conference teams will schedule a cupcake on the 6th- and then have a tougher game the Friday that they normally open up the season with.

Marquette does need to beef up the schedule. Not sure what Wisconsin will be like this year so can't really count on that(plus it's home)- and the 2 Barclay's games- with Gavitt game- for a team looking to make the tourney- need a lot more meat on that bone.

Putting a negative spin on something related to a Big East team? That's so out of character for you.

Marquette with a mediocre OOC schedule is very in character for them. If GW11 was the extent of their quaility OOC games, that would be a bad OOC schedule and would hurt them in making the tourney.

PC is also apparently getting Michigan and South Carolina in the HOF Tipoff Classic at Mohegan. I love the way PC has been scheduling since the BE was reformed.

So BC, URI, UMASS, Wichita State, Michigan/S. Carolina and apparently one more top 50ish opponent as a home game.

Is the Mohegan a bracketed tourney, or is it preset matchups? Do know GW is in there as well. If they could get both Michigan and South Carolina out of that tourney- that'd be huge. I'd kind of guess if it is bracketed that it'd be 1st round Michigan/GW and South Carolina/Providence. Where PC would have to beat South Carolina to get Michigan.

Depending on BC, RI, and Wichita- may need a bit more on the bone though. That's a schedule that could go south depending on those 3.

Not really sure what we will see in terms of a schedule with games starting on Nov. 6th. The goal was to create buzz in the middle of the week with no football games going on.

Well we know the Champions Classic is that first night. So that's 2 pretty good games that will take up a lot of the oxygen that 1st night. The dh at the Navy remains on the Friday I know- so I think the teams playing in that will have a cupcake 1st thing. Same for Arkansas/Texas this year who play on the Friday night in the Armed Forces Classic at Ft Bliss- they'll probably have a tuneup game on that Tuesday.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see some exempt tournaments start taking place that first weekend quite frankly.

Hoyas allegedly playing @ Illinois in the Gavitt Games.
Will have @ Cuse and Home vs. Richmond.
Also rumored to be in the Jamaica Classic MTE. Teams yet to be announced.
Schedule should be improved from last year. Of course had no where to go but up.
