Next Year.

Villanova will be at the top next year, and I don't think it will be that close, but who will fall into the 2-5 spots next year? I expect X to fall back, but how far? If Marquette doesn't reach the tournament, will Wojo's seat get hot? What about St. John's? They showed signs of life late in the season, but still, 4-14 isn't going to get it done. I'd think anything less than the NIT will have folks in Queens getting restless. Butler looks to be in position to move up. Any thoughts?

If Marquette doesn't make the tournament next year Wojo should be fired. The fanbase has been pointing to next year even before this season started. I'm sick of being a bubble team every year.

I expect X to land somewhere 4th-6th and make the NCAA tournament as a 7-11 seed.

Xavier will be more athletic and better defensively but shooting will suffer.

Butler's standing next year is going to depend a lot on the development of their younger guys this offseason. Currently I don't see how they replace Martin's scoring or Wideman's defensive presence, but we'll see.

It's way to early for this but I am assuming St Johns gets their replacement for Owens and Georgetown and Marquette get grad transfer PGs. I wanted to put Seton Hall and Creighton ahead of Butler but Butler just seems to get to .500 or better every year.

It’s still really early, but I’ll take a shot at it.

IMO, the team that will make a big jump and will battle Marquette for the Big East title is Marquette. They have a lot of talent but except for Rowsey, they were young this year. Nonetheless and despite having to deal with the Cheatham departure, they posted some big wins and then won a couple of games in the NIT. Everyone else besides Rowsey comes back next year AFAIK. I think they will break out in 2019. Who will finish 2-5?

1. Villanova
2. Marquette
3. Providence
4. Creighton
5. Xavier

I won't try to rank the conference until the rosters are filled, but Marquette needs a PG. Looking at a few "too early" top 25 projections, I'm surprised with no sign of Providence. ESPN has Butler at 22, saw another that has Xavier in the 20s. We could be in for a down year.

If Khyri Thomas comes back, I think Creighton will be top half of the Big East. He's in most 1st round projections so I have a feeling he is gone. We are looking at grad transfers so our standing will probably depend on who we get but we will probably be bottom half if Thomas leaves....
