thing is for Boise- if they played instead of Air Force and Colorado St 2x they got to play Gonzaga 2x, even if they went only 1-1 vs Gonzaga- they'd be in. Instead of 22-7 with a RPI of 41 and SOS of 116, they'd be 21-8 with a RPI of 33 and SOS of 80. Add to that a conference tourney win and quite possibly both games for them for Gonzaga would be top 30 or Q1 games.

It really shouldn't factor in to it (but it probably will). It won't be Saint Mary's or BYU's fault if the WCC is a one-bid league again.

The problem lies with the bottom of the league. The top three were 32-7 OOC. The next two were 15-8 OOC (Acceptable). The others five 15-40. You can't have that.

I think if Gonzaga is going to throw their lot in with football schools, and the MWC is going to say "we're willing to be a hybrid" then they should just go all in and form a new league with legit basketball programs. Gonzaga/Boise, BYU/New Mexico, UNLV/SDSU, Nevada/Fresno, SMC/Pacific make for good group of 10 with travel partners.

That group of 10 went 86-36 (.7049) OOC.
The MWC went 76-51 (.5984)
The MWC plus Gonzaga went 86-54 (.6143)

.7049 is better than the Pac-12 (.7027).
