Around the time of this latest reported cheating, Providence was in good shape with 2 highly regarded recruits... Graham went to Kansas, and a local Boston kid went to NC State.

Also, Arizona cheated to originally get Quinerly over Villanova. This caused Jay Wright to pursue David Duke, wasting resources and time going head-to-head against Ed Cooley.

So these blatantly cheating f-ckers like Sean Miller and Mark Gottfried cause a ripple effect in many places.

It's really unbelievable how great the Big East has done when you consider that we're fighting against these d-bags.

Just speculation on my part but Ian Steere was commited to us and was a huge cheerleader for Creighton trying to get recruits to come with him then all of the sudden, he decommitted and signed with NC State and Kevin Keatts who was a Rick Pitino assistant...

Any thoughts that this is entirely between the shoe company and the kids with limited/no knowledge of the school?

Follow me on this:

1. Kid plays for a shoe company AAU program and has been repping shoe company since 8th grade.

2. The AAU coach owes most of his net worth to the shoe company.

3. Kid feels an obligation to his AAU program and shoe company to go to a shoe company school.

4. Kid blows up and shoe company sees a pro contract in 1-2 years and offers a "contract" to the kid if he attends a shoe company school.

5. Shoe company sees where the best fit for kid is an steers him to the school.

It's possible, but why would the shoe company care what specific school the kid goes to? I see the shoe company caring that the kid goes to one of the schools that they outfit, but schools outfitted by the same company recruit against each other all the time. Why would Adidas care that a kid goes to Kansas instead of Louisville for instance? So the reports that the money was in exchange for committing to a specific school (and then signing with Adidas after turning pro) make it very hard to believe that the schools no knowledge / nothing to do it.

Quite honestly I feel bad for the young man. I'm not sure what he knew or how much he was involved, but the adults around him definitely made his life much more difficult.

At the NBA draft combine on Thursday, the controversial prospect known as “Player 10” finally got to play.

Brian Bowen II, the former Louisville recruit at the heart of the federal basketball investigation, played his first competitive game in nearly a year. And it just happened to be a job audition in front of hundreds of NBA scouts and executives.

To be blunt, it didn’t go well. Bowen missed both his shots in his opening game, turned the ball over five times and looked like the most overwhelmed player on the floor.

“He’s in no man’s land,” said a veteran NBA scout who watched Bowen struggle on Thursday. “He may not be good enough to play in the G League right now.”
