(2) BE Games - Sun Dec 17 2017...

Postby billyjack » Sun Dec 17, 2017 9:16 am

Two games Sunday Dec 17 2017:

Stony Brook at Providence, 2:30pm.
Iona vs St John's, 4:30pm, at MSG.

I could really go for an easy 30 point win at the Dunk for the Friars today. Hey, i noticed that UMass beat Georgia, so that's good.

Johnnies with a good matchup vs the always-solid Iona Gaels.

The Friars take the lead with less than 2 minutes remaining.

Almost pulled of the upset. Oh well. That is life as low major. Congrats PC on avoiding the trap

For those who didn't watch, PC isn't in a funk. They're missing four guys: Holt, Diallo, White and Cartwright (sprained an ankle in the game). Really fun watching Ed figuring out a way to get the win, although Friar fans probably wouldn't call it fun.

Yeesh, 4th nail-biter at the Dunk.

Today the difference was walk-on Tom Planek, lanky 6-9 forward. Came in game with 8 minutes left, down 11. Cooley put on a press with Planek freelancing in the backcourt. PC went on a 12-0 run, up 50-49.

The lead flipped back and forth. PC up 2 with 25 seconds, but Stony Brook tip in a miss to tie with 10 seconds left.

Friars drove to hoop, missed with 3 seconds, then missed 3 tips as Stony Brook hammered and hacked repeatedly, and finally a foul was called with 00.6 seconds... Bullock hit both free throws.

Seems like each comeback win has been more improbable than tje previous one.

That's right, several important pieces are missing.

And yeah, these games give me agita.

Good to see the Johnnies get the win.
