Like George Costanza wanting to be called "T-Bone".

Unfortunately they already changed it to "Major Conferences".

I think its better to be honest. Its more flexible and separates it from the Football only term "Power-5"

ESPN is almost as confused as the white house.

BIG EAST teams are 69-16 (.812) going into Friday. If non-conference play ended today, would be league’s best mark since 1988-89 (.831).

Also of note, Lavin said during XU/Kent State game that Big East has won 5 our of it's last 6 against ranked opponents.

Remember a short 3 weeks ago, Stever was on this HUGE winning percentage kick, as in your conference's winning percentage is the only thing that matters regardless of opponent or SOS. This was mostly because the first few weeks, the AAC played cupcakes and won a lot of those games.

The Big East is now on pace for it's best OOC winning percentage since 1988-89 and shockingly, the OOC winning percentage argument is nowhere to be found from Stever

Big East is on pace to finish at 100-24. Sounds great. Last year the conference went 97-29. So +4 games from last year....

AAC is on pace to finish at 102-46.. Last year the conference went 85-50. So 17 more wins and 4 fewer losses. Some of that obviously is Wichita, but even removing them and their projected 10-2 they'd be at 92-44. Or +6.5 games better than last season.

And yeah, winning percentage does matter. The biggest part of RPI is your opponents record. Which is why even with Georgtown's putrid OOC schedule, they're not going to be this RPI bomb for the Big East....

Really it's better for both the Big East and AAC. Both are appreciately stronger this season in OOC play. But what's strange about it is that it could lead to more bids(maybe more than double) for the AAC, while Big East gets fewer bids(but much stronger bids).

I mean- look at todays RPI forecast
Nova 2.5
Xavier 7.9
Seton Hall 17.7
Creighton 32.9
St John's 43.7
Providence 51.7
Butler 58.2
Marquette 91.7
Georgetown 135.5
DePaul 178.1.

Big East would get off of that probably a 1,2,4 or 5, 8 or 9, and then a 10 or 11 or PIG spot. Remember last year BE had 1,4,6,9,10,11,11(PIG).

It goes to the age old question- which one is better- depth or better seeds. I personally take the better seeds every single time.

Will you please stop with the forced juxtaposition. The AAC is not and never will be a comparable conference.

As of this moment, the AAC aggregate rating is 8.46. That is good for the same 7th place that they find themselves every year that the A10 doesn’t hop over them.

In the same moment, the Big East is at 15.00 - good for the Top 3 that it’s always a part of.

There is nothing comparable about the two conferences. The AAC is literally closer to the Valley annually. You know, they have a board too — mvcfans. You should check it out

So Pac 12 shouldn't be in there either since the rating is 9.34 I guess. Give me a break. There are 7 conferences that are projected to get all but 1 at large bid. Like it or not, the AAC is in that group.
