As a Georgetown fan, this graphic is especially telling.

The fact that Xavier, Butler, and Creighton, make up 3 out of 5 of the Top 1/2 of the conference exemplifies why it's known as the nBE.

Pundits like Jon Rothstein say that - for the NBE to really start to flex its muscle - Georgetown and St. Johns need to become relevant again.

I concur but at the same time it's not fair to Big Pat to put the weight of the conference on his shoulders. It's a different time and a different conference than it was during the Ewing era.

IMHO, the FBI investigation could be boon for the NBE. If the feds can clean up some of the filth, I think this brand can't really start to gain some solid momentum.

Recruiting in CBB has become so dog eat dog that its not easy to go from the bottom half of a conference to the top half. There's just not a lot of upward mobility. Georgetown should be recruiting at Villanova's level right now and (for many reasons) that's not happening.

The Big East is known to you, Stever and a few other American Athletic fans as the nBE or New Big East.

You seem to be taking it the wrong way.

nBE is not an insult. It's just a signifier.

It's like the new Point Break movie...
Sure, many people call it simply Point Break... But if they do that they'll usually qualify that by letting you know its not the one with Patrick Swayze. It was different movie. Saying nBE is more economical.

He's a fraud and troll hiding behind the guise of being a Georgetown fan (he's probably a Ewing fan more than anything else).

I see Louisville and Notre Dame finished in the top 4 of the nACC.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

the nACC and nPac10(12).

Anyways, I wouldnt get on the defensive when posters refer to it as the New Big East or nBE. It's only the same forum posters (go see AAC section of CSNbbs) or those who are still stuck in the A-10/MVC that keep saying it. We could win another NCAA title and they'll still refer to it as the nBE. Outside looking in. Hell, even sports writers don't refer to it as the New Big East.

Also, ya'll probably realized now that crawfish is not really a Big East fan. It's probably stever. Just did a quick search on of "nbe" on his post and it's 3 pages long...he pretty much refers to the big east as new big east since he started back in march.

8000, huh? Not too shabby for a BEAST school. So should we refer to ourselves as the NBE, the BEAST, or just the BE? Anyone have a strong opinion?
