ACC is going to 20 games as well. I hate to even bring it up, but does the Big East go to 11 teams in order to get to 20 games as well (not to mention more content for Fox)?

Nope.

Use those games for good OOC games.

I think the concern with the B1G and ACC going to 20 games, with likely other power conferences following suit, it eliminates potential strong OOC matchups for Big East teams. The Big 12 will face the same problem as the Big East, but their life expectancy as a conference is nearing an end for the next TV contract go-around, since Texas and Oklahoma will be looking to bolt.

The Gavitt Games are in contract through 2022, so those are guaranteed.

I wonder if we would try and pursue a Big East/Big 12 challenge to fill one of those two additional games?

@JonRothstein

Power-Five conferences going to 20 league games puts more pressure on lesser leagues to get creative in scheduling. You're all on the clock.

And it also means fewer buy games for the SWAC and lowest tier of NCAA hoops. Will there be a trickle down effect of schools or leagues contracting themselves out of NCAA D1 basketball?

no it won't. The games that get eliminated will be the 2nd tier OOC games. The buy games won't be going anywhere. The schools need the home dates.

So fewer games for the mid-majors against majors then?

The problem is that it may be hard to find enough "good" OOC if the other major conferences are at 20 games. B1G/ACC schools aren't going to drop buy games when they have to add another conference game, they are going to drop the "good" OOC games.
