As I communicated with the author, standings like this are interesting but useless at the same time because all sports are counted equally. When we did our Big East strength of athletic departments several years we used a multiplier for the "big" sports to more accurately reflect how each program was competing. Stated otherwise, men's basketball and track aren't the same and shouldn't each be worth 10 points.

Agree. If DePaul won multiple league titles in Olympic sports and was awarded some sort of all league trophy but finished last in both men's and women's basketball, soccer and so on I don't think I'd be boasting about having the best athletic department.

All I know is that Xavier is getting excellent results for monies spent. Great work X.

Someone tell us what the standings would be only counting men's hoops, men's soccer, baseball, women's hoops, and volleyball. With a few exceptions those get 99% of the resources.

Volleyball is getting pretty popular i think its on par with college soccer as far as coverage.

Yeah, volleyball will never be on par with soccer. I'd imagine its value is somewhere below track and field, overall.

Im talking about collegiate soccer vs womens volleyball. If u look at the coverage ESPN gives both of them its about the same.
