JORDAN PRESS CONFERENCE AT 3.

Evan Daniels had a good interview with Holtmann. He basically confirmed that OSU is getting the whole staff.

Kyle Young torn between Ohio State and Butler – Land of 10/Ohio State – 3 hours ago
The biggest question since Ohio State basketball announced the hiring of head coach Chris Holtmann would be whether or not he’d bring Kyle Young with him.

Young, a 4-star forward from Massillon (Ohio) Jackson, signed with Butler over Ohio State in the Class of 2017. However, schools that undergo coaching changes typically release recruits from the National Letter of Intent they signed, and the logistics of a transfer are even more favorable since Young hasn’t yet enrolled at Butler.

On Wednesday, Young’s high school coach, Tim Debevec, told Steve Helwagen of 247 Sports that Young is still working toward a decision.

“He wants to take his time and figure it out, hopefully here in the next three or four days,” Debevec told Helwagen. “Maybe at that time he will get in front of everybody and tell everybody. He and his mom and his family will make a decision here really soon.

“We’ll support him whatever his decision is. That’s all we can do as high school coaches.”

With only nine scholarship players on the books for the 2017-18 season, Ohio State can use all the help it can get. The Buckeyes repeatedly struck out with late-deciding recruits and graduate transfers over the past two months, which played a role in the decision to make a coaching change.

Young was rated the No. 18 small forward and No. 77 overall prospect in the Class of 2017, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Pedon (assistant coach) and Kyle Young (our top incoming recruit) are very, very likely gone.

Pedon is from Columbus, and Young probably would've gone to Ohio State if it weren't for all of the turmoil in the program.

What will Butler's recruiting ranking be if both Young and David are gone? :?:

Butler holds onto Christian David, sets meeting with Kyle Young - David Woods, Indianapolis Star – June 19, 2017
INDIANAPOLIS – Four down. One to go.

Christian David is keeping his commitment to Butler, a source told IndyStar late Sunday night. That means four-fifths of the highest-rated basketball recruiting class in school history is on board.

New coach LaVall Jordan is to meet this week with Kyle Young of Massillon, Ohio, perhaps Monday, another source said. David is a 6-7 forward who played high school basketball for Vermont Academy. He averaged 11.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists last season, shooting 52 percent from the field and 81 percent on free throws.

Once rated the top high school prospect in Canada, he was not at full strength after going down with a torn anterior cruciate ligament March 6, 2016. David’s wingspan has been measured at 6-10, or three inches more than his height.

Incoming freshmen customarily enroll for the second session of summer classes, which begin June 26.

Young, the prize recruit of the Bulldogs' class, chose them over Ohio State. He would have to be released from his Butler commitment to switch to Ohio State, although schools customarily grant such releases. Young was recruited by Chris Holtmann, who left Butler to become Ohio State coach.

Not a shock.

Holtmann said on multiple occasions he wanted Butler to be able to keep its recruiting class together and for the transition for Butler to be smooth over the past week. Then he spends the entire time speaking with Young's HS coach (essentially recruiting him w/o breaking NCAA rules) to make sure he was able to nab the best rated recruit from Butler's class.

No hate for Young, but Holtmann is a turd. Would love to see the Buckeyes in the PK80.

Young is going to be tough to replace. Top 100 player.

It will be interesting to see how this new staff will do.

Coach Holtmann got us to the NCAA's three years in a row, with 4 W's and 3 L's. He is a fine coach and I thank him for what he brought to the program after the issue with Miller. Butler is bigger than any one coach and any one recruit.
