Really interesting timing.

I do wonder if it's for an NBA coach who went long in the NBA Playoffs. And look who lost in the Eastern Finals. Brad Stevens. Could it happen?

1 thing that is good with this. 2 of the bigger jobs in the region would be filled in Indiana and Ohio St.

Zero shot Brad Stevens takes that job.

Chris Mack or Chris Holtmann will likely be considered candidates for them. Would either jump? I hope not.

A lot can happen in just under a year. If they don't promote from within, like Wisconsin did, they might lose out on or lose interest in potential recruits (simply because they don't know who will be there).

Mack and Holtmann will definitely be mentioned, but I wouldn't dismiss Mick Cronin either. Mick nearly left last Spring for UNLV because they offered a ton of money. If OSU gives him a decent raise, I could see Mick leaving UC finally (or he will just end up waiting for Pitino to finally leave).

And Tom Crean is available right now. They could hire him as consultant and give him the gig as soon as Matta leaves. THAT would make for some fun Harbaugh Holiday dinners!

If Cronin is offered he'll accept. I don't think either of the Big East coaches will leave this year. Mack is a X alum coming off a elite 8 run and I think the powers that be at X will pay him whatever it takes to keep him. I think Holtman likes it at Butler and I think Butler wants more stability at it's HC position. If they are smart they realize how lucky they were Holtman was there after their last coach freaked out and left the program.

Stevens would have taken the IU job if he wanted back into college.

He's coming off the Eastern Conference finals with the #1 pick this year and potentially next year. He's being talked about as the next great coach in the world's best league. He's already considered the best ATO coach in the NBA.

There is no way he is going back to college.

Are you serious about Stevens or was that sarcasm?

saw this from Sports Director of a Columbus TV station:
Insider says OSU wish list includes:
Brad Stevens, Tony Bennett, Jay Wright, Sean Miller & Billy Donovan.

kind of an interesting nugget. who hired Brad Stevens at Butler? Matta.

That's a Columbus station dreaming out loud...I doubt any of them even interview for the job, much less accept it. Every one of them has a better job right now.

There are millions of teens that have Kate Upton on their wishlist for a prom date. Doesn't mean she's interested.
