Kerem Kanter to X

Kerem Kanter, younger brother of Enis Kanter, withdrew his name from the NBA draft today, and signed a financial aid agreement as a grad transfer with X. Kerem is a 6'10" big who was the second leading scorer and the top rebounder for Green Bay last year. His addition gives us 3 experienced bigs (grad transfer Kanter, Senior Sean O'Mara, and Soph Tyrique Jones), plus a promising 3 star Freshman in Kentrevious Jones, who may well be redshirted.

So now I think we'll be a top 10 team if Blueitt returns, OR if any 2 of our 5 incoming freshmen (2 four stars, three 3 stars) are really ready to play at this level immediately. If Blueitt goes and the Frosh aren't quite ready for prime time, we should still be a top 25 team.

Everybody knew he was coming back. Don't know how much of the floor he'll see with O'Mara and T. Jones. At best, another ancillary piece.

I think he will contribute this year. His D is bad but the kid can score. Stick him in the zone and it should help hide his defensive deficiencies.

He played 19 minutes a game at Green Bay. He'll be the 3rd big man in a 3 big rotation.

As a season ticket holder for UWM in the Horizon League, Kanter was just OK.

I think this is what Mack was looking for though. Somebody who comes in a fills a small role and knows there role. That was what Malcom Bernard was intended to be but when a few players fell through(KG injury, Sumner injury, Myles, Bluiett injury) Bernard's role changed.
