I keep saying this, but it seems like the Big East is doing great in the transfer market. We are losing a ton, but we've done a pretty good job of getting some much needed help for next season.

Hard disagree we are screwed!!!!! NBA needs to stop stealing our elite players. They're biggest of blue bloods right now.

I think that's a really good point. I think the transfer recruiting may be better than the freshman recruiting.....

Now, the only drawback to transfers IMO is that they're very much at risk for subsequent graduate transfers since they have to sit out a year. See what happened at St John's with Tariq Owens. It'd be interesting to see how many graduate transfers had transferred before the graduate transfer. I think that number may be pretty high.

Some of the CU Negative Nancy's are going buck wild. Not only is the sky falling, but the Moon and several planets are also colliding with Earth. CUOldfan thinks the cupboard is bare and wants to recruit an entire team. I suggested Jay and Nova. (Highest of gtmo compliments).

Of course, this is the norm on Creighton boards. The sky is annually held up by safety pins, bailing wire, and duct tape. 80% of fan predictions will safely fall in the 7-10 conference standings area, with that same percentage choosing between 14-17 up to 18-13 as the regular season talley. Another 10% will aim higher (19-21 W's), and then there are the diehard optimists (22-24 W's). and gtmo (25-27 W's). Every damned year - without fail, regardless whether the Jays have 2 ABE players with 4 seniors or all-frosh.

Another great offseason! ;)

On another front: Great to see movement on the Transfers...If the NCAA wants to put a cap, then the 3.0 is better than 3.3 GPA. In basketball, caps would penalize the more "athletic" players in revenue sports cause they generally have lower GPA's. However there is no restrictions on majority of non-revenue transfers, just the top tier and moneymaking sports. IMO it's all or nothing - Every transfer is immediately eligible or they all sit a year (no exceptions).

I think it's highly unlikely there will be immediate eligibility for transfers. One thing in the Rice Report that didn't get much publicity was they recommended keeping the transfer rules as is. So, I think that puts a huge splash of cold water on that. And I think personally that's a good thing.

Nova picks up Saddiq Bey. 4 stars on 247.

So, according to 247...

2018:
1 five star
12 four stars

2017:
0 five stars
12 four stars

2016:
1 five star
13 four stars

2015:
2 five stars
11 four stars

2014:
1 five star
19 four stars

2013:
0 five star
11 four stars

2019: (in progress)
0 five stars
5 four stars

Honestly, the 2014 number seems a bit inflated to me and I'm not sure if that's accurate. It seems they classified a couple 3 stars like Sean O'Mara (#158 overall) as a 4 star on this page (which is the number I used):

https://247sports.com/Season/2014-Baske ... e=Big-East

So maybe a glitch, but regardless 2014 still looks like the best class.

I absolutely think you can argue the 2018 class is the second best. It has the most Top 50 recruits of any BE class (yes, even beating the 2014 class- 6 vs 4). Those players just barely fell outside the 5 star range.

The only class with more 4/5 star recruits (aside from 2014) was the 2016 (1 additional 4 star recruit). That class, however, only had 2 top 50 players (vs 6 for 2018).

So assuming this is the end of the class and there's no further decommits or commits, I'd say this class is second best overall in our history. Pretty good. :)

2014 absolutely cleaned up 51-100. I believe 10 guys there. 21 top 150 guys(also had 2 5 star guys- if you look at Georgetown players, to go along with Whitehead of course)
2018 had 14 top 150 guys.

totally agree with you that this is the 2nd best class.

Bottom line: another year, another influx of talent via recruiting and transfers. The health of this conference is on full display.
