GTMO, well said. We Nova fans are very fortunate at this point in time and I for one am grateful for what and how Jay has done it. Given the Spellman situation and Booth's injury, I thought he did an amazing job last year with a very short rotation.

Would we like more wins and movement out of the first weekend, of course. However, the consistency and reloading over the last 4 years have been a pleasure to watch.

I thought Nova would win the BE regular seaon last year, but was sure there would be more loses. The depth of talent on so many of the teams this year is going to create one hell of a race. We are in for some fantastic league games next year. Providence is going to be VERY good. Of course Butler will be there as will Seton Hall, X, and your Jays. Marquette is going to be good and St. Johns will be a year more dangerous. Goodness, where are the easy games??? How many will get in the dance???

I am so looking forward to seeing all these new great faces coming in. And yes, I too am grateful for the "newbies" in the league. Great programs, basketball centric and so well coached. .... can't wait for November.

I have said this before, but I truly do believe next year's rendition of the NBE will be the best to date. Pretty amazing considering we got seven teams into the Dance. Outside of DePaul, I think every team will be good and/or improved.

the key's going to be the OOC scheduling for next year. The league is going to have at least 2-3 bubble teams almost certainly with 9 or 10 conference losses. How those teams schedule OOC will go a long way in determining the number of bids. It's a tough choice for coaches.

Good points Stever. You're rolling today.
OOC will definitely be a major factor...fortunately most of our teams are in good non-conf tourneys which will aid their overall individual OOC schedules.

Lunardi has gone on record with his early bracket, the BE with 6 teams in. 5-7 would be nice. If we add the Zags and SLU, 7 would most likely be the norm. ;)

Look at that conference number for Xavier: 42 - 30. We knew coming into the Big East that the days of dominating a conference were over. Fans of A10 teams simply can't appreciate what it is like to slug it out in this conference over the course of a conference season; there are no easy nights in the Big East.

Then I look at what Jay and Nova have done and in this conference, which continues to perform at such a high level. THAT is flat out impressive.

God help us all when Georgetown, St. Johns and DePaul all come back online firmly.

^^^^This. I remember, in the A-10 conference, we were expecting to win 100% of our home games, the vast majority would be over at halftime. It was extremely relaxing. Conference away games, I expected an 80-85% win percentage, with perhaps 2-3 games that I was nervous about and knew they would be "bothersome". A 14-2 conference record was an expected league record for our squad.

NOW......EVERY game in the Big East, home or away, is an absolute battle, there is not a SINGLE game (at least for me as a xavier fan) where I can sit down, relax, and enjoy a nice glass of wine. Now, I nervously pace, distressed, sweating bullets, despondent, swearing at things and people that are not there, while pounding a bottle of Bacardi 151.

But beating any team in this league is a huge accomplishment. Hence, the panic attacks, anxiety disorders, and the raging alcoholism is so completely worth it.

Jax, I think you may have summed up everyone's feelings perfectly- mine for sure. Regardless of your school, man can it be the best and the worst!!

Impossible! A-10 fans told us we would get slaughtered in A-10 conference play!
