interesting- NIT bracket out...
Seton Hall gets Rhode Island in 1 SF while the other SF is Virginia/Vanderbilt.

pretty predictable I think.

Probably a very smart thing for Georgetown.

looks like a very soft schedule for the Hoyas. No Exempt tourney i'm assuming now- so only 28 games- with 10 OOC games. 1 would be Syracuse. So leaves 9 OOC games.

Um... what? So why if you're Georgetown do you decide not to go to what will be in all likelihood the best pre-season tourney and a once in a whatever type of opportunity? DePaul might be a slight upgrade next season so the Big East could benefit (Can't hurt DePaul either), but I'm really interested to hear why this happened from the Georgetown side. Have any of the Hoya fans bought tickets to that? If so they should be able to recoup some money.

Would've been nice to send Xavier, Nova or Creighton, but I'm sure they're already involved in other preseason tourneys that would really hard to get out of and that their fans probably already bought tickets to head to those tourneys as well.

Absolutely bizarre that GTown dropped out of PK80.

I'm sure it wasn't his call, but here's the statement from Georgetown's AD.

Disappointing to say the least. PK80 gave Ewing and Hoyas an early opportunity to showcase the "new" Georgetown and they chickened out.

I get that sentiment, but what would a weekend of losing by 40 to Michigan St, losing then to UConn, and then most likely a road type game at Portland do to exactly showcase the new Georgetown? Maybe best case they beat UConn and then play either Arkansas or Oklahoma in the 5th place game. But most likely, it just would show how far Georgetown has fallen.

It would be interesting to see which side triggered the change.

I'd be curious to see who's call it was. Ewing's? Reed's? Thompson's? Regardless, this is not what top programs (regardless of whether they are rebuilding or not) do. Indiana, in Crean's first few years - seasons where they had ABSOLUTELY nothing - they still competed in Maui, Jimmy V Classic and others. If you can't sell the present, sell the future - and being in big time tournaments is/was a big draw for recruits.

Under the same viewpoint, why even bother playing the Big East schedule this year if they know they will be bad? Spare the rest of the nine programs by allowing them a better shot at making the postseason. (I know that would never happen, but it's using that same logic).

Very disappointing to say the least.
