Final Four

Who ya got?

Can South Carolina's defense slow down Gonzaga's offense the way that West Virginia's D did? Can South Carolina's offense score against Gonzaga's defense? Gonzaga has had a week to prepare.

How about Oregon vs North Carolina? Oregon is without the PAC-12's best shot blocker, 6-10 Chris Boucher, against the narion's most dominant front line. They haven't missed Boucher so far in the tournament, but. This is different. OTOH, Carolina will need Joel Berry to handle Oregon's switching defenses. Has he recovered sufficiently this week to run the offense? On paper, it looks like Carolina in a blow out, but the games aren't played on paper.

I'll take North Carolina and Gonzaga to meet on Monday night. But I've been wrong throughout this tournament.

Score is tied after South Carolina makes its heroic come back.

Gonzaga's Freshman Center (Connor?) puts up a 3 attempt that literally clunks and drops in. That propels them to a seven or eight point run of their own.

It might be destiny.

How do you not block out TWICE? Geez, well, it's easy to root for Gonzaga, it's like good vs. evil.

He blocked out, but got bulldozed out of the way and Meeks still was over the back to get the rebound... Kind of a dumb way to end a decent game.

Not from what I could tell, he was just staring at the rim, didn't even try to find a body to block out.

First one was no box out, second was Meeks being a monster and pushing his way thru two guys... LOL! (Watched it about 12 times now, so if you see something different, we're just not watching the same play.) ;)

Tonight's game is almost too close to call. Almost.

Berry's bad ankles give Gonzaga an important edge. Tonight the Zags bury forever the criticism that they're a mid major that can't get it done against the big boys even when they get a 1-seed,

Gonzaga's not even close to being a mid-major, regardless of whether or not they're in a mid-major league. They have 2 McDonald's All-Americans on their team, and they spend money like a major program. Heck, regardless of whether or not it was serious, if they weren't located in Spokane Washington, they'd likely be in the Big East right now.

It's kind of like when Xavier was in the A-10 for all of those years. The A-10 is a mid-major league, but Xavier wasn't a mid-major program.

Having said all of that, I do agree that Berry's health is a major factor in tonight's game, and his and Britt's ability to defend the perimeter against Gonzaga's bigger guards could be what decides it. Hoping for a Zags victory tonight.
