POY - FOY - COY

Hart
Patton
Holtmann

If I had a vote I would have given it to Ponds but Patton is an impressive young player in his own right so not that much of an argument there.

just curious, does anyone out there actually think Patton deserved the award over Ponds?

Ponds deserved it. Patton got it because he's the best freshman pro-prospect but he wasn't the bets freshman player this year.

I wouldn't argue Cooley winning but Holtman swept Nova and took care of business majorly in the non conference. Sometimes you just have to reward the guy that gets better/more wins. I don't think anybody argued Wright winning a share of it last year for coming in first when projected to come in first.

Butler was also in the Top 15/20 for nearly the whole of the season, and as consequence, were far more nationally relevant. As a group of people so sensitive of the league's national relevance (who knows why?), you have to concede Holtmann's 'job' was more important to the league in 2017.

from interview i heard with PC's beat writer

Cooley wasn't 3rd when votes had to be turned in (before Sat) - so that's part of the problem

Patton is certainly deserving of FOY - and it could/should have been shared with Ponds who was great this season

but - it sort of evens out the Khyri Thomas snub of not even making honorable mention all league - or his sharing DPOY - which he should have received all by his lonesome

How is Ponds snub even anything else out that doesn't involve him?

Ponds was obviously snubbed. I think the conference felt it was giving SJ all the weekly awards so they felt bad and gave it to Patton to make it seem like they were fair to everyone. Simply put, Ponds is a more valuable asset than Patton.
